  • Description: The Friendship Club provides a year-round program in Western Nevada County serving girls at risk in grades 6-12. Girls meet after school during the school year, attend field trips and other activities during school breaks, and participate in summer camps and enrichment activities throughout the summer.Girls are grouped into cohorts by grade level and stay with their group until they graduate high school. Participation is free, as are all the activities, field trips, and camps. Nutritious meals are provided every time girls are with us.All girls are referred to the program by their schools and other youth-serving professionals during their fifth grade year and start the summer before they enter sixth grade. The goal is for them to participate in the program until they graduate high school. Referrals for girls in other grades are also accepted as long as there is space available in their cohort.Every activity and experience builds on the next and our programs intertwine to create a safe and long-term experience for our girls to grow, learn, and develop into self-sufficient, happy and successful young women.
